Before the Bihar Assembly elections, politics has turned tense due to allegations against Ashok Choudhary by Jan Suraj leader Prashant Kishore. He accused the JDU minister of amassing illegal assets worth ₹200 crore in just two years. These charges have created pressure on Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, as Choudhary is one of his close ministers.
JDU spokesperson Neeraj Kumar also asked Ashok Choudhary to clarify the issue, calling it a big test for the party. Later, JDU ally and Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief Upendra Kushwaha added more pressure by demanding accountability.
According to Kishore, land was purchased under a trust connected to Choudhary’s family during his daughter’s marriage. However, Ashok Choudhary has denied all charges. He says his assets are already declared and transparent. He has even filed a ₹100 crore defamation notice against Prashant Kishore, demanding an apology.
The controversy has now become a challenge for Nitish Kumar’s leadership, as his party promotes a zero-tolerance policy on corruption. How he handles this matter could shape political equations ahead of the Bihar polls.
