The Almora freedom fighter organisation held an important meeting on Sunday at Gandhi Park in Choghanpata. The group elected new office-bearers and renewed its commitment to support the families of freedom fighters. The Almora freedom fighter organisation aims to protect the legacy of the state’s brave heroes and strengthen the voice of their successors.
Bharat Pandey became the new district president after members supported his leadership. Along with him, Badri Dutt Pandey took charge as the secretary. State vice-president Kamlesh Pandey said the team would soon meet the District Magistrate to discuss issues faced by the families of freedom fighters. He added that the organisation wants practical solutions for pension delays, identity cards, and welfare schemes.
Several important members joined the team. Tara Chandra Shah and Kishan Chandra Joshi took on key advisory roles. Shivendra Goswami became the media in-charge, while Pushkar Prasad Pandey stepped in as vice-president. The organisation also elected Nandan Singh Karki as organisation minister and Chandra Kandpal as the women’s vice-president.
The executive committee now includes Deepender Rana, Shiv Shankar Bora, Kailash Burma, and Vinod Sharma. These members plan to organise public meetings and awareness drives across the district. They aim to share stories of freedom fighters with the younger generation.
Many local supporters attended the event, including Saraswati Rana, Pushpa Galakoti, Durga, Mohan Tiwari, Geeta Pandey, and Vineeta Pandey. Members said the renewed unity and structure will help them raise concerns strongly at the district and state levels.
