The Ambedkar Hostel Scholarship Doubled announcement has brought major relief to students in Bihar. The state government has decided to increase financial support for students living in Ambedkar welfare hostels.
SC/ST Welfare Minister Lakhendra Roshan said the Ambedkar Hostel Scholarship Doubled plan will raise the monthly scholarship from ₹1,000 to ₹2,000. Around 10,000 students are expected to benefit from this move. The proposal will soon be sent for cabinet approval.
The government currently runs 137 Ambedkar hostels across the state. These hostels provide free accommodation, digital classes, libraries, and monthly support. Students also receive 15 kg of food grains, including rice and wheat.
The minister added that new books and sports facilities will also be provided. The step aims to improve education and living conditions for students from marginalized communities.
