Amit Shah Assam Projects received a major push on Friday as Union Home Minister Amit Shah unveiled development works worth ₹1,715 crore in Dibrugarh. The initiatives aim to strengthen governance, sports infrastructure, wildlife care and flood management across the State.
During the event, Mr. Shah laid the foundation stone for a ₹284 crore second legislative assembly complex and an MLA hostel. The project supports the State government’s plan to develop Dibrugarh as Assam’s second administrative hub. The complex will feature a three-storey Assembly building, a nine-storey MLA hostel, an 800-seat auditorium and a security barrack.
Additionally, Amit Shah Assam Projects include major investments in sports. He inaugurated the first phase of a multi-disciplinary sports complex worth ₹238 crore and laid the foundation for its second phase costing ₹209 crore. The facility will offer stadiums, courts, hostels and seating for 30,000 spectators in the next phase.
Furthermore, Mr. Shah launched a ₹292 crore Wildlife Health and Research Centre. The centre will improve treatment, research and coordination among veterinarians, forest officials and scientists.
He also unveiled a ₹692 crore wetland restoration project under the National Disaster Mitigation Fund. This initiative will rejuvenate 15 wetlands across nine districts, reduce urban flooding and strengthen flood management in the Brahmaputra basin.
Overall, the projects underline the Centre’s focus on Assam’s long-term development and resilience.
