Amit Shah Gwalior Roads have become the centre of fresh political debate after several damaged stretches were repaired overnight. The repairs happened just before Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to the city. Gwalior’s poor road conditions had earlier drawn national attention, especially after monsoon-related cave-ins.

Amit Shah visited Gwalior on December 25 to inaugurate the Abhyudaya Madhya Pradesh Growth Summit. He also laid foundation stones for industrial projects worth ₹2 lakh crore. Ahead of the VVIP visit, the district administration and municipal corporation resurfaced selected roads. These routes were part of the Home Minister’s convoy movement.

Residents say the administration acted with unusual speed. They claim officials earlier cited lack of funds when people demanded road repairs. Locals now question how money appeared overnight. Many allege the work quality is poor and may not last long.

Several citizens shared images and videos on social media. They accused authorities of applying double standards. According to them, roads ignored for months were fixed within hours for a leader’s visit. Some residents also reported uneven layers and unfinished edges.

Local resident Chaturbhuj Dhanaulia said the roads were badly damaged earlier. He claimed officials denied funds at that time. He alleged the new surface is of substandard quality. He demanded strict action against contractors involved in poor construction.

The issue has triggered wider questions on accountability and public spending priorities.
