Amit Shah Launches NSG’s National IED Data Platform to Strengthen Security

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday launched the National Security Guard’s (NSG) national Improvised Explosive Device (IED) data platform in Gurugram, aimed at strengthening India’s counter-terrorism capabilities. The platform will systematically collect, analyse, and store IED-related information from across the country, providing real-time intelligence to security agencies for preventive and investigative purposes.
Speaking at the launch, Shah emphasised that the initiative would enhance coordination between central and state forces, improve threat assessment, and enable quicker responses to incidents involving explosives. He noted that timely access to accurate IED data is critical for safeguarding civilians, critical infrastructure, and law enforcement personnel.
NSG officials explained that the platform uses advanced analytics and machine learning tools to detect patterns, identify trends, and support evidence-based operations. They said the system will serve as a central repository for IED intelligence, helping agencies anticipate threats, plan countermeasures, and ensure national security more effectively.
