Television anchor Mohammad Khayyum, popularly known as Anchor Lobo, has been sentenced to one year in jail and fined ₹12,500 by a Janagam court for his role in a 2018 road accident. The incident occurred when Lobo’s car, on its way to Hyderabad, collided with an auto-rickshaw near Nidigonda in Janagam district.
The crash claimed the lives of two passengers, Medhe Kumar and Pemberti Manemma, who were traveling in the auto. Lobo’s car also overturned, leaving him and others inside the vehicle injured.
Police immediately registered a case and launched a thorough investigation. After reviewing the evidence, the court found Lobo guilty of negligent driving, which directly caused the fatalities and injuries.
The verdict serves as a strong reminder about road safety and accountability, stressing that reckless driving can have irreversible consequences for both drivers and innocent passengers.
