Andhra Pradesh sets benchmark in energy efficiency initiatives: Chief Secretary
Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a role model in the effective implementation of energy efficiency programmes, Chief Secretary K. Vijayanand said on Friday. Addressing a review meeting on power conservation initiatives, he noted that the State’s sustained focus on reducing energy consumption and promoting efficient technologies had delivered measurable benefits to both the government and consumers.
The Chief Secretary highlighted initiatives such as large-scale adoption of LED lighting, energy-efficient agricultural pump sets, and demand-side management programmes in urban and rural areas. These measures, he said, had helped lower electricity bills, reduce peak demand, and cut carbon emissions.
Mr. Vijayanand emphasised that coordinated efforts among departments, power utilities and local bodies were key to the success of the programmes. He called for greater public awareness and wider participation from industries, institutions and households to further strengthen energy conservation efforts.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to sustainable development, he said Andhra Pradesh would continue to expand innovative energy efficiency initiatives aligned with national climate and energy goals.
