Former MP and MLA Anil Sahni joins BJP, quitting Lalu Prasad Yadav and Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD. His exit marks a setback for RJD ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. Sahni, once named a star campaigner for the 2025 polls, joined BJP in Patna, where Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and other leaders welcomed him.
Earlier, Anil Sahni joins BJP after accusing RJD leaders of ignoring extremely backward castes. He reportedly wanted a ticket for his son from the Kudhni seat, now given to Bablu Kushwaha. Sahni, a former Rajya Sabha MP, had previously served in Nitish Kumar’s JDU and faced imprisonment in the LTC scam, which cost him his legislative seat.
His move strengthens BJP’s presence in Muzaffarpur, while RJD loses a key backward caste leader before the 2025 Bihar elections.
