Tamil Nadu politics turned tense again after another MLA resigns in Tamil Nadu from the AIADMK party. Ambasamudram MLA Esakki Subbaiah submitted his resignation letter directly to the Assembly Speaker on Tuesday.
The latest move came just one day after three other AIADMK MLAs resigned from their posts. With another MLA resigns in Tamil Nadu, the total number of resignations from the party has now reached four in just two days. Reports suggest the rebel MLAs supported the ruling TVK government led by Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay during recent Assembly developments.
AIADMK leaders strongly criticised the resignations and accused the ruling party of encouraging defections. Political analysts believe the crisis could weaken the opposition party further and may even lead to more by-elections in the coming months.
The Speaker is expected to take a final decision on the resignation after reviewing the letter and legal procedures.
