Internet services suspended as anti-terror operations intensify in J&K’s Kishtwar on Friday, as security forces stepped up efforts to track down terrorists believed to be hiding in the region. Officials said the move aims to prevent the spread of rumours and ensure operational security.
Most parts of Kishtwar district are experiencing heavy snowfall, especially in the upper reaches. Security sources said a group of terrorists is suspected to be sheltering in snowbound forest areas, making the operation challenging.
The Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and central armed forces are jointly carrying out search operations. Teams are using local intelligence and aerial surveillance to narrow down possible hideouts.
Road connectivity to several villages remains affected due to snowfall. Authorities have advised residents to stay indoors and cooperate with security personnel during the operation.
Officials said internet restrictions are temporary and will be reviewed based on the ground situation. Essential services continue to function, and emergency communication channels remain available.
