The Andhra Pradesh government has identified a total of 3,10,385 auto and cab drivers eligible for annual financial assistance of Rs. 15,000 under its welfare scheme. This initiative aims to support drivers who are registered as owners and operators of auto-rickshaws or cabs, providing relief for their livelihood. Government sources have estimated that the implementation of this scheme will involve a total expenditure of Rs. 466 crore.
Officials clarified that the scheme is exclusive to auto and cab drivers and does not apply to operators of other goods vehicles. The assistance will be directly credited to the bank accounts of eligible beneficiaries. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is scheduled to release the funds on October 2, ensuring timely financial support to thousands of transport workers across the state.
