Andhra Pradesh Home Minister Anita announced that the state government is preparing to introduce a new law to curb fake propaganda on social media. Speaking to the media, she said Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu is determined to address the growing misuse of digital platforms.
A cabinet sub-committee is currently working on drafting regulations that will set clear guidelines for monitoring and controlling false or defamatory online content. Anita highlighted that many individuals living abroad are posting misleading information without accountability. The upcoming law, she said, will empower authorities to take strict action regardless of location.
She further expressed concern that character assassination of women has become rampant on social media, making the legal framework even more urgent. The government aims to ensure that while freedom of expression is respected, online spaces do not become breeding grounds for misinformation and targeted harassment.
