The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has announced that it will prioritise intra-State bus services to accommodate the surge in passenger movement during the Sankranti festival. A total of 8,432 special buses have been planned across the State to ensure smooth travel, particularly to district towns and villages.
The increased demand is partly driven by the Stree Shakthi scheme, which encourages greater participation of women in local mobility and travel, leading to higher passenger volumes. APSRTC officials said that additional buses will operate on key routes connecting rural areas to major towns, ensuring timely and comfortable journeys for festival-goers.
Passengers are advised to book tickets in advance through the APSRTC online portal or mobile app to avoid last-minute inconvenience. The transport corporation has also deployed extra staff at bus stations to manage crowd flow and ensure safety during the peak travel period.
