Assam Voter List Revision Ends with the removal of more than 10.56 lakh names after a special revision drive. The Election Commission released the integrated draft electoral roll on Saturday. Assam will hold assembly elections in less than six months.

According to the draft list, Assam now has 2,51,09,754 registered voters. The commission excluded 93,021 voters marked as “D-voters” from the active roll. Authorities also deleted names due to deaths, migration, or duplicate entries.

Officials removed 4,78,992 names after confirming voter deaths. Another 5,23,680 voters had shifted from their registered addresses. The commission flagged 53,619 similar demographic entries for correction.

The special intensive revision followed door-to-door verification. Officials conducted verification from November 22 to December 20. Teams covered more than 61 lakh households across the state.

The Election Commission clarified the status of “D-voters.” These voters lack verified citizenship documents. Special tribunals declare D-voters under the Foreigners Act, 1946. Authorities keep their personal details in the draft list but deny voting rights.

Voters can file claims and objections until January 22. The commission will publish the final electoral roll on February 10. The revision aims to ensure a clean and accurate voter list before elections.
