Assam recorded a major breakthrough in its fight against narcotics. Cachar Police seized 90,000 yaba tablets worth nearly ₹27 crore. The operation took place under the state’s ongoing anti-narcotics drive. Officers acted on specific intelligence inputs.

Police intercepted a truck in the Rongpur area of Cachar district. The vehicle was travelling from Champhai in Mizoram to Guwahati. During the search, officers found the drugs hidden inside a secret chamber. The team arrested two accused on the spot. Police identified them as Dalim Uddin Laskar and Abed Sultan Barbhuiya. Both belong to the Dholai area of Cachar.

Yaba tablets contain methamphetamine mixed with caffeine. The drug directly attacks the central nervous system. Experts warn that regular use causes severe addiction and mental damage. Traffickers mostly manufacture yaba in Southeast and East Asia. Smuggling routes into India have expanded in recent years.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma praised the police for the successful operation. Authorities registered a case under the NDPS Act. Investigators have intensified the probe. Officials believe more arrests will follow soon. They aim to dismantle the entire drug network operating in the region.
