Bhikhari Thakur was not a person but an idea, said Bihar Governor Arif Mohammad Khan while speaking at a cultural programme in Chapra. He said Thakur’s thinking still inspires society even decades after his time.
The Governor explained that Bhikhari Thakur raised his voice for the poor, migrants, and marginalised people. Through folk theatre and songs, he spoke about social injustice, respect for women, and human dignity.
Bhikhari Thakur was not a person but an idea that continues to guide people across generations. His messages remain meaningful in today’s society, where inequality and division still exist.
Arif Mohammad Khan said true education does not come only from schools. He noted that Thakur learned from life and used culture as a powerful medium to spread awareness.
He also encouraged youth to study Bhikhari Thakur’s work closely. According to him, culture should unite people and bring reform, not remain limited to entertainment.
Several speakers at the event remembered Thakur as the “Shakespeare of Bhojpuri.” They said his legacy belongs to the whole nation.
