The Election Commission has issued strict directives ahead of the Bihar Assembly elections. According to the rules, no officer or employee directly involved in the elections will be posted in their home district. The key phrase here is Bihar Assembly elections.
All officials who have completed three years or more in one place will be transferred. This includes district-level election officers, deputy election officers, returning officers, and assistant returning officers. The order also covers Block Development Officers, Tehsildars, Additional Collectors, Municipal Commissioners, Divisional Commissioners, and Excise Department staff.
The Commission has clarified that police officers like Additional Director Generals, Inspectors General, and Inspector-level officers will also be shifted if they served over three years in one district. However, special branches, training, and computerization staff will not be affected.
The Election Commission has asked the Bihar government to complete all transfers and submit a detailed report by October 6. These measures aim to ensure fair conduct of the Bihar Assembly elections.
