Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on September 8, 2025, announced a stipend hike for anganwadi workers and helpers. The decision will benefit more than 1.20 lakh sevikas and sahayikas in the state.
Under the revised payout, anganwadi workers will now get ₹9,000 per month. They were earlier receiving ₹7,000. Helpers will get ₹4,500, up from ₹4,000. Nitish Kumar shared this update on X and said the department had been directed to act on it.
The Chief Minister praised the contribution of anganwadi staff. He said they play a vital role in nutrition and health support for children and pregnant women. Kumar added that since 2005, his government has launched many welfare schemes, and this move rewards frontline workers.
The announcement comes just weeks before assembly elections. Nitish Kumar also said he was confident that the NDA would form the next government in Bihar. Opposition leader Tejashwi Yadav accused the government of copying his ideas. He vowed to unveil new promises once the election code comes into force.
The hike will support more than 1.20 lakh anganwadi staff and give a fresh boost to welfare delivery in Bihar.
