Chief Minister Nitish Kumar transfers ₹2100 crore to Jeevika Didis, empowering 21 lakh women across Bihar. By pressing a remote button, he sent ₹10,000 each to the accounts of Jeevika Didis under the Chief Minister’s Women Employment Scheme. This initiative aims to boost financial independence and promote small-scale entrepreneurship among women.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had given ₹10,000 each to 75 lakh women in September, calling Nitish and himself the “two brothers” working for Bihar’s women. Continuing this mission, Nitish Kumar transfers ₹2100 crore to Jeevika Didis as the second phase of support. So far, over 1.21 crore women have benefited from this scheme.
Under the Jeevika program, one woman from each family receives ₹10,000 to start a job or small business. After reviewing their progress, the government may offer up to ₹2 lakh in further assistance. Nitish Kumar also laid the foundation stone for the Patna Metro and inaugurated projects worth ₹300 crore in Muzaffarpur, showing his focus on development and women’s empowerment across Bihar.
