Bihar fishermen to get Rs 1 lakh subsidy under a new state government scheme aimed at improving their income and working conditions. Bihar fishermen to get Rs 1 lakh subsidy for buying fishing boats and nets, with applications open till December 31.
The Bihar government launched this initiative through the Fisheries Department. The goal is to help traditional fishermen upgrade their equipment and increase productivity. The scheme offers financial assistance of up to 90 percent of the total cost.
Fishermen can apply online through the official fisheries portal of the Bihar government. Applicants must provide basic details such as Aadhaar number, bank account information, and proof of fishing activity.
The scheme is open to registered fishermen, including women fish workers. Special focus is given to beneficiaries from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes to ensure inclusive growth.
Only one subsidy package will be allowed per family. After verification, a selection committee will approve eligible applicants. Funds will then be transferred directly to bank accounts.
Officials said this support will reduce financial stress on fishermen and help modernise the sector. The government expects the scheme to strengthen rural livelihoods and boost the fisheries economy in Bihar.
