Bihar Left Collapse in Magadh and Shahabad

The Bihar Left collapse in the Magadh and Shahabad regions surprised many political observers. These areas once stood as the strongest bases of Left parties, especially CPI (ML). The collapse became clear as results showed major losses across their traditional belts. The Bihar Left collapse also highlighted how difficult it became for these parties to convert vote share into real victories.

CPI (ML) started its journey in the Shahabad region. It once held several seats in Magadh and nearby districts. But this time, it failed to protect most of them. The party won only two seats, while its candidates lost in key areas like Dumraon, Agiaon, Tarari, and Karakat. In places like Siwan and Champaran, the party faced defeat even in old strongholds.

The CPI contested nine seats but could not win even one. The fight in Bachhwara became tough as Congress and CPI candidates ended up competing against each other, which weakened the alliance.

The CPI(M) also failed to win a single seat for the third time in Bihar. Earlier, this happened only in the 1952 and 1915 elections. This continuous decline shows the shrinking voter base of the Left parties in Bihar.
