The Bihar promotion order has brought major relief to more than two lakh government school teachers across the state. Under the new decision, the Education Department has allowed teachers to count their earlier service while calculating eligibility for promotion. This step will help teachers receive long-pending career benefits.
According to the Education Department, teachers who earlier worked as appointed teachers and later became special category teachers will now get full credit for their previous years of service. The Bihar promotion order ensures that service continuity will not break during promotions.
The order applies to teachers from middle, secondary, and higher secondary schools. Teachers handling classes 6 to 8 will be promoted to senior teacher posts in the same category. Teachers of classes 11 and 12 will move to senior posts meant for higher secondary sections.
Special category teachers will also benefit under the same rules. Their promotions will now follow clear class-based guidelines, making the process transparent and fair.
Officials believe this decision will improve morale among teachers and encourage better performance in government schools. Many teachers had demanded this change for years, calling it a matter of justice.
The order is expected to reduce disputes related to promotions and bring long-term stability to the education system in Bihar.
