The Bihar School Holidays Calendar 2026 brings major updates for students and teachers. The Bihar Education Department released the Bihar School Holidays Calendar 2026 with a total of 65 holidays, excluding Sundays. Schools will get long breaks for major festivals and planned vacations in the new year.
Students will enjoy 10 days of holiday for Diwali and Chhath, which is the highest in the list. Durga Puja gets 6 days, while Holi has 2 days. Important festivals like Raksha Bandhan, Ram Navami and Basant Panchami each get one day off. The calendar also includes summer vacation for 20 days and winter vacation for 7 days.
Teachers may attend school on a few birth anniversary days, but a holiday will be given after the events. All government, aided and upgraded schools must follow this calendar. The department has also instructed schools to give homework during summer and winter vacations.
