The Bihar Siwan encounter created panic after police shot two miscreants during a late-night operation in Siwan district. The Bihar Siwan encounter took place near Laheji village under Basantpur police station limits.
Police said they received a tip-off about armed criminals planning a major crime. A team rushed to the spot and tried to stop them. The suspects opened fire, forcing police to retaliate.
Both accused suffered bullet injuries and were first taken to a local hospital. Doctors later referred them to Patna for better treatment.
One injured accused, Rohit Sharma, is linked to several jewellery robbery cases, including a Hyderabad incident. Another accused, Rohit alias Rishu, also has a criminal background.
Police said the operation was led by Basantpur station officials. Authorities are now checking their involvement in other crimes.
