Bihar’s Mokama Tense After Political Clash and Firing

A violent clash broke out in Mokama, Patna, due to political rivalry between two local groups in Gosain village. The dispute began when youths collecting donations for Lakshmi Puja were attacked, sparking anger. Soon, both groups, led by local figures Diwakar Yadav and Mithilesh Yadav, opened fire on each other. Locals claimed that AK-47 rifles were used, though police denied it. Over 40 rounds were fired, but no casualties were reported. Police said only 10 rounds were confirmed.

Tension spread across the area after the shooting. Based on complaints from both sides, the police registered a case against 16 people and arrested four — Dinesh Yadav, Gannu Yadav, Ranjeet Kumar, and Rahul Kumar. Raids are on to catch the remaining accused. The incident has created panic among residents, highlighting the growing violence linked to political competition in Bihar’s rural regions.
