The issue of Biomedical Waste in Bihar came up in the Patna High Court. The court asked all District Magistrates (DMs) to report what they are doing to control medical waste. The judges showed concern about unsafe disposal by hospitals.
During the hearing of a public interest petition, the court questioned the state government and district officials. It asked them to submit clear details about waste management. The court also wanted to know how hospitals treat their medical waste.
The Biomedical Waste in Bihar issue includes waste from both government and private hospitals. The court asked the Bihar State Pollution Control Board to share details. It must report which hospitals violated waste rules and what action officials took.
The petition says some hospitals dump medical waste in open areas. This can harm people and damage the environment.
The court will hear the case again on April 20.
