In the Bihar elections 2025, the NDA partners — BJP and JDU — have shaped their candidate lists to match Bihar’s social balance. The BJP fielded 21 Rajputs out of 49 upper-caste candidates, while Nitish Kumar’s JDU fielded 37 OBC and 22 EBC candidates. This shows a clear focus on social engineering. BJP has no Muslim candidates this time, while JDU included four Muslim names.
Across 202 NDA seats (BJP 101, JDU 101), 99 went to backward classes and 71 to upper castes. Women representation reached 35 seats overall, with 13 each from BJP and JDU. BJP’s upper-caste list includes Brahmins, Bhumihars, Rajputs, and Kayasthas, while JDU emphasized youth and marginalized groups such as Agrahari, Bansphor, and Kharwar castes.
Both parties are fine-tuning caste and community balance to keep their core voters satisfied ahead of Bihar elections 2025.
