Hyderabad: Distribution of voter ID cards by Congress leader Naveen Yadav in the Jubilee Hills Assembly constituency ahead of the by-election has sparked major controversy. Election Officer Rajinikanth Reddy lodged a complaint with Madhuranagar Police, alleging violation of Election Commission rules.
A criminal case was registered against Yadav under IPC Sections 170, 171, and 174 of the Representation of the People Act. Reacting to the issue, BJP MP Raghunandan Rao criticized the incident, calling it “a mockery of democracy.” He said only Election Commission and government officials are authorized to distribute voter cards, questioning how Congress leaders obtained them.
Rao demanded an explanation from TPCC chief Revanth Reddy and Rahul Gandhi, who is currently leading a “Vote Chori” campaign nationwide, asking why such voter card irregularities are happening in Telangana under Congress’s watch.
