The BNMU BEd fee hike has triggered strong protests by students across campuses in Bihar. Students say the sudden increase in fees will make it difficult for many from poor families to continue their studies. The BNMU BEd fee hike has become a major issue among student groups.
According to officials of Bhupendra Narayan Mandal University, the new fee structure will apply from the 2026–28 academic session. The university increased the fee for the two-year BEd course from about ₹1.05 lakh to nearly ₹1.5 lakh.
After the announcement, several student organizations started protests on campus. They said the Kosi-Seemanchal region mostly has students from farming and low-income families, and such a sharp fee increase will make teacher training unaffordable.
Student leaders demanded that the university administration review the decision immediately. They also urged the vice-chancellor to restore the previous fee structure so that more students can continue their education without financial pressure.
