Cement prices in Telugu states have declined following the reduction of GST from 28% to 18%. This has led to a price drop of up to Rs. 30 per bag, benefiting both consumers and construction projects.
Depending on the brand, prices have fallen significantly. Bags previously priced at Rs. 290 are now available for Rs. 260, while those costing Rs. 370 have come down to Rs. 330. On average, 23–25 lakh tonnes of cement are sold monthly across the two states.
Although rainy season and previous rate hikes had slowed sales temporarily, experts believe that the price reduction is likely to boost demand again. Builders, contractors, and individual buyers are expected to take advantage of the lower rates for ongoing and upcoming construction projects.
