Centre to Allocate ₹17,000 Crore More for Rural Employment Scheme; Telangana to Get ₹340 Crore

Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy on Monday said that the Centre would spend an additional ₹17,000 crore on the rural employment guarantee scheme to strengthen livelihood support and provide more job opportunities in rural areas across the country. He said the increased allocation reflected the Union government’s commitment to improving rural incomes and ensuring social security for vulnerable households.
Addressing the media in Hyderabad, Mr. Kishan Reddy stated that Telangana would receive ₹340 crore from the additional funding. The amount would be utilised to generate employment, create durable rural assets, and support development works under the scheme. He noted that the funds would help meet rising demand for employment in rural regions.
The Union Minister said the Centre was closely monitoring implementation to ensure transparency and timely wage payments. He also urged State governments to effectively utilise the funds and focus on quality asset creation. The enhanced spending is expected to boost rural infrastructure and provide economic relief to lakhs of families dependent on the scheme.
