The West Bengal Assembly witnessed high drama when ruling TMC and Opposition BJP legislators clashed in sharp verbal duels. The confrontation brought proceedings to a standstill and led to the suspension of five BJP MLAs.
Amid walkouts and marshals dragging BJP leaders from the House, slogans like “vote chor BJP” and “chakri chor TMC” echoed across the Assembly. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and BJP members accused each other of undermining democracy.
In her address, Banerjee accused the BJP of stealing votes while lecturing others on democratic values. “BJP is a vote thief. They have stolen people’s mandate to win elections,” she declared. The chaos erupted just before she was set to speak on a resolution condemning alleged atrocities against Bengali migrants.
