Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha on Tuesday asserted that the BJP will form the government in West Bengal in the next Assembly elections, claiming that the people of the state are ready for change after years of “jungle raj” under the Trinamool Congress (TMC). His comments came during a party event where he addressed BJP workers and accused the current West Bengal government of failing to provide security, development and political freedom to its citizens.
Saha alleged that political violence, corruption and intimidation have become widespread in the state, causing dissatisfaction among people across districts. He stated that the BJP’s growing support base in rural and urban constituencies clearly indicates that West Bengal is looking for a strong alternative. According to him, the saffron party is the only “credible and disciplined force” capable of restoring law and order and ensuring transparent governance.
Highlighting the BJP’s expanding footprint in the eastern region, the Tripura Chief Minister said that the party’s recent organisational activities, leadership outreach and grassroots movements have strengthened public confidence. He emphasized that West Bengal voters have now recognized the need for a political shift similar to the transformations seen in Tripura and other northeastern states.
Saha further claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s welfare schemes and national-level governance model are resonating deeply with West Bengal’s electorate. “People want peace, development, and a government that upholds democracy. BJP will bring that change,” he added.
The BJP is expected to intensify its campaign strategy ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, focusing on issues like law and order, employment and corruption allegations against the ruling TMC. Political analysts believe that Saha’s strong remarks reflect the party’s renewed confidence and broader national strategy in eastern India.
