Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has made it clear that more land will be acquired from farmers to expand Amaravati into a true capital city. Speaking at a Way2News event in Mangalagiri, he said that without expansion, Amaravati would remain no more than a small municipality.

He explained that international airports, industries, and major institutions are essential for raising land value and ensuring large-scale development. Limiting growth to 33,000 acres would restrict Amaravati’s potential, he argued. Calling the project a form of land monetization, he compared it to Hyderabad, where land value surged from ₹1 lakh per acre before Hi-Tech City to ₹100 crore per acre today.

Chandrababu said Amaravati could become a mega city only if Guntur, Vijayawada, and Tenali along with surrounding villages are integrated. He also spoke of the Quantum Valley initiative and upcoming universities, assuring that all projects would be completed in three years under government supervision.
