CM Stalin Urges PM Modi to Address U.S. Tariffs Affecting Tamil Nadu Exports
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking urgent intervention to resolve the issue of U.S. tariffs that are impacting the State’s exports. In his letter, the Chief Minister said the tariffs have resulted in a combined daily revenue loss of about ₹60 crore for exporters across several districts of Tamil Nadu.
Mr. Stalin explained that key sectors such as textiles, leather, engineering goods, and other export-oriented industries are severely affected. He warned that continued losses could lead to job cuts and financial stress for small and medium enterprises that depend heavily on overseas markets.
The Chief Minister urged the Centre to take up the matter with the U.S. government through diplomatic and trade channels to find an early solution. He also requested support measures to protect exporters and workers until the issue is resolved.
Mr. Stalin stressed that timely action is necessary to safeguard the State’s economy and livelihoods linked to export industries.
