The Bihar government has announced coal on ration PDS shops in Bihar to help people facing a shortage of cooking gas. The decision aims to provide an alternative cooking fuel for families struggling to get LPG cylinders. The scheme will allow ration card holders to buy cooking coal from fair price shops across the state.
Officials said the move will benefit more than two crore families covered under the National Food Security Act. These households can purchase coal through the Public Distribution System at controlled prices. The step was taken after energy supply disruptions caused an LPG shortage in several areas.
The government has directed district authorities and related departments to ensure smooth supply and fair distribution. Coal will be transported from suppliers to districts and then delivered to ration shops for public sale.
Authorities say coal on ration PDS shops in Bihar is only a temporary solution until the LPG supply stabilizes. The government hopes the plan will help families continue cooking without major disruptions during the fuel crisis.
