Cold wave grips Patna as freezing temperatures and dense fog continue to affect daily life in the Bihar capital. Due to the harsh weather, the district administration has ordered the closure of all schools up to Class 8 until January 2. The decision aims to protect young children from health risks caused by extreme cold.
Cold wave grips Patna and nearby areas, with early mornings becoming especially unsafe for students. The order applies to all government and private schools, including pre-schools and Anganwadi centres. Parents have welcomed the move, saying it will help keep children safe during the severe winter conditions.
Students from Class 9 onwards will still attend school. However, classes will run only between 10:00 am and 3:30 pm to avoid exposure during the coldest hours of the day. School authorities have been asked to strictly follow these timings.
The District Magistrate issued the directive after weather officials warned of continued low temperatures and thick fog over the next few days. Poor visibility has also increased the risk of road accidents during morning hours.
Officials have advised residents to stay warm, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow weather updates. Further decisions will depend on upcoming weather conditions.
