A cold wave in Araria has forced the district administration to close schools and limit Anganwadi operations to protect children from extreme winter conditions. Due to falling temperatures and dense cold winds, officials issued fresh orders to reduce students’ exposure to the harsh weather. The cold wave in Araria has affected daily life, especially for young children and early learners.
All government and private schools up to Class 8 will remain closed until January 2. Authorities took this step after health concerns rose among children during morning hours. However, schools conducting board and pre-board examinations will continue classes as scheduled.
For students above Class 8, schools may function only between 11 am and 3 pm. This limited timing ensures learning continues while keeping students safe from severe cold.
Anganwadi centres will operate for just two hours, from 12 noon to 2 pm. During this time, workers will provide essential services, including nutrition support, without keeping children exposed for long.
District officials have instructed school heads and Anganwadi workers to strictly follow the guidelines. Parents have welcomed the decision, saying it prioritizes children’s health during the intense cold spell.
The administration will review the situation daily and may extend the order if weather conditions do not improve.
