Madhya Pradesh continues to reel under severe winter conditions, with icy winds driving down temperatures across the state. Dense fog in the mornings and late nights has added to the chill. In the first week of December, the minimum temperature recorded a sharp drop of 3–4°C, especially in northern and western districts.

According to the IMD, the next 48 hours may bring a stronger cold wave to Bhopal, Indore, Gwalior, Chambal and Ujjain divisions. In the last 24 hours, minimum temperatures in Gwalior and Chambal dropped by nearly 3.6°C. The lowest temperature was recorded in Kalyanpur (Shahdol) at 7.4°C, followed by 7.9°C in Girwar (Shajapur) and 8.5°C in Morena.

IMD scientist Divya Surendran said the dip is caused by a western disturbance and multiple cyclonic circulations over northern Punjab and northwest Uttar Pradesh. Another disturbance as a trough is also active. All divisions of Madhya Pradesh are likely to witness further cooling over the next three days.
