The Bihar Congress seat-sharing dispute with RJD is growing ahead of the upcoming state elections. Congress is demanding 65 seats, while the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) is ready to give only 55. This difference has created tension within the Grand Alliance. Party sources said that Congress has already prepared names for 43 seats and plans to finalize candidates for 74 soon.
On Tuesday, the Central Election Committee held a three-hour meeting in Delhi but could not finalize all the names. Eighteen seats were discussed, and a sub-committee was formed to decide the rest. Party President Mallikarjun Kharge led the meeting.
The Bihar Congress seat-sharing dispute has also triggered anger among ticket aspirants. Over four thousand leaders had applied for tickets, leading to protests outside the Delhi headquarters. Many party workers are upset, saying that newcomers are getting more importance than long-time workers.
Congress had involved these leaders in several campaigns like Har Ghar Jhanda and Voter Rights Yatra. Now, many of them fear being ignored despite their hard work. The final list of seats and candidates is expected to be announced soon, but internal unrest remains high.
