Congress leader Mohammad Naushad, once active in Delhi politics, is now in the spotlight in Bihar. Naushad earlier contested the Delhi Municipal Corporation (MCD) elections as a councilor but lost. He has served as Youth Congress national secretary and is currently an AICC member.
Naushad is now preparing to contest the Darbhanga Jale Assembly seat. During a recent event in Singhwara, Darbhanga, a supporter on his stage allegedly made abusive remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother. The video went viral, leading to a political storm.
Reacting to the controversy, Naushad issued a clarification and apology. He said he respects the Prime Minister and that in his 20-year political journey, he has never been part of such incidents. Naushad claimed the remarks were made after he had already left the venue for a program in Muzaffarpur with Rahul Gandhi.
He further alleged that the issue was a conspiracy by rival leaders seeking the same Congress ticket. While Naushad apologized from his stage, the controversy has added new pressure as he tries to build his base in Bihar politics.
