Congress RJD Alliance Shock: Why Congress Blamed Its Partner for Bihar Defeat

Congress RJD alliance review meeting

The Congress RJD alliance became the main reason for debate after the 2025 Bihar election defeat. Many Congress candidates said that the Congress RJD alliance damaged their chances at the polls. They claimed that if Congress had contested alone, the results would have been better. In a review meeting in New Delhi, several candidates openly blamed Tejashwi Yadav’s RJD for the poor performance.

Some candidates argued that seat-sharing delays and internal confusion created a negative image among voters. They also said that friendly fights in a few seats confused the public. A few leaders even suggested ending the alliance and fighting future elections independently.

Congress MLA Abidur Rahman listed other reasons too. He said that Nitish Kumar’s government attracted women voters by giving ₹10,000 before the election. He also pointed out that AIMIM and BJP turned the election into a Hindu-Muslim debate, which affected Congress negatively.

During the review, Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge spoke to candidates in small groups and listened to their concerns. They promised to prepare a clear roadmap for Bihar. The party hopes that strong corrective steps will help rebuild its position in the state.
