Congress slams BJP Nadda over Vaishno Devi admissions after a major political row erupted in Jammu. The party claims that BJP president J.P. Nadda ignored Hindu sentiments while approving recognition for the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence (SMVDIME). Congress slams BJP Nadda over Vaishno Devi admissions as leaders argue that the BJP must answer for its decisions.
JKPCC working president Raman Bhalla said the BJP failed to protect community interests despite controlling both the Union Health Ministry and the Shrine Board. He urged the party to apologise instead of fuelling communal tensions. Bhalla added that Nadda should explain why proper safeguards were not implemented earlier.
The controversy began when SMVDIME admitted 42 students from one community in its first MBBS batch. Right-wing groups and the BJP demanded that the college receive minority status or that the admission list be cancelled.
Congress spokesperson Ravinder Sharma noted that the selection process followed rules and asked why the BJP was giving it a communal angle. He argued that similar protections already exist in other institutions.
The Congress also demanded immediate corrective steps to maintain peace. On the same day, the party launched an online talent hunt to bring young voices into its media teams nationwide.
