CPI Veteran Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy Passes Away at 83

Communist Party of India (CPI) leader and former Member of Parliament Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy passed away at the age of 83 after a prolonged illness. He breathed his last at a hospital in Hyderabad. Hailing from Kondrapally in the erstwhile combined Mahbubnagar district , Reddy was born on March 25, 1942.

He completed his degree in Kurnool and earned an LLB from Osmania University, Hyderabad. Active in student and youth politics, he served as AISF President in 1970 and AIYF President in 1972 . He contested and lost assembly elections from Kollapur in 1985 and 1990 * , and won in 1994. Later, he was elected MP from Nalgonda in 1998 and 2004 . In 2012 , he was appointed CPI National General Secretary.

Reddy’s eyes were donated to LV Prasad Eye Hospital , and his body will be handed to Gandhi Medical College for research . His body will be available for public homage at Magdum Bhavan, Himayatnagar, before the final rites. He is survived by his wife and two sons.
