CPI(ML) Seeks Bihar Election Funds Law After Defeat

CPI(ML) press meet discussing Bihar election funds law and pre-poll schemes.

The CPI(ML) has demanded a new Bihar election funds law after the party suffered a major defeat in the recent Bihar elections. The party said the ruling government used new schemes and cash benefits just months before voting. According to CPI(ML) leaders, these schemes affected the final result. They repeated that a strong Bihar election funds law is needed to stop such schemes at least six months before elections.

CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya said that the government launched the Women’s Employment Scheme and free electricity benefits just before the elections. He argued that these announcements changed voter sentiment and harmed the Grand Alliance.

Speaking to the media in Patna, Bhattacharya said that if the ruling party spends thousands of crores before elections, the opposition cannot compete. He claimed that this trend began in Bihar and may continue.

He also blamed the SIR system for deleting nearly 70 lakh voter names. Many voters could not find their names at polling booths. Bhattacharya called this a major issue that directly impacted the election.

He met Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav to review the defeat. CPI(ML) will also hold meetings and a dialogue tour from November 18th to 24th.
