Five-time IPL champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and inaugural winners Rajasthan Royals (RR) are reportedly in advanced discussions over a potential trade involving Ravindra Jadeja and Sanju Samson. Both players are valued at ₹18 crore each, and negotiations are said to be progressing rapidly ahead of IPL 2026.
However, the trade faces complications as Rajasthan Royals reportedly want South African youngster Dewald Brevis included alongside Jadeja. According to a Cricbuzz report, this additional demand has become the main roadblock in finalising the deal. Brevis joined CSK last season as an injury replacement and quickly proved his worth with impactful performances across global T20 leagues.
CSK, on the other hand, remain firm on not including any additional player, especially Brevis. The franchise believes Jadeja’s value as one of the world’s finest all-rounders is sufficient for a straight swap. Sources suggest CSK also consulted Jadeja before opening trade talks with RR.
Jadeja has been instrumental in CSK’s success, particularly his match-winning heroics in the IPL 2023 final. His balance of disciplined bowling and powerful finishing with the bat continues to make him one of the most valuable assets in world cricket.
