Cyclonic Activity Likely to Intensify Over Bay, raising concerns across coastal regions as two weather systems grow stronger over the Bay of Bengal. Meteorologists observed rapid development on Monday, with one system showing clear signs of intensification. Experts believe it may turn into a cyclone within the next 72 hours, while the second system continues under close watch.

The IMD reported that the stronger system has begun consolidating and may soon reach the depression stage. If the momentum continues, it could evolve into a cyclonic storm over the southwest Bay of Bengal. Cyclonic Activity Likely to Intensify Over Bay, but Odisha may avoid a direct landfall based on current predictions.

IMD Bhubaneswar Director Manorama Mohanty stated that southern Odisha could receive light rainfall in the next two days. Cloud cover may increase across several districts, and minimum temperatures may drop by 2–3°C as northeastern winds strengthen.

Odisha’s Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari assured that the state remains fully prepared. Disaster response teams and district authorities are on alert as officials monitor both developing systems. He added that Tamil Nadu and southern Andhra Pradesh may face a stronger impact, although cyclone paths can shift unexpectedly.
