Dagadarthi Set to Host Andhra Pradesh’s Eighth Airport
Andhra Pradesh is set to get its eighth airport with the proposed development of an airport at Dagadarthi in SPSR Nellore district. The State government has issued a Request for Proposal (RFP) inviting private participation for the development, operation, and maintenance of the airport under a long-term concession framework.
The project will be implemented through the public-private partnership (PPP) mode, aimed at improving regional air connectivity and supporting economic growth in southern Andhra Pradesh. Officials said the proposed airport would cater to increasing passenger traffic, boost tourism, and facilitate faster movement of goods and services.
Dagadarthi was identified as a suitable location due to its strategic position and availability of land. The airport is expected to enhance connectivity to key destinations and support industrial and commercial activities in the region.
Once operational, the Dagadarthi airport will join Visakhapatnam, Vijayawada, Tirupati, Rajamahendravaram, Kadapa, Kurnool, and Donakonda as part of the State’s growing aviation network.
