The Defence Ministry has approved a 100% increase in financial assistance for non-pensioner ex-servicemen and their families, significantly enhancing welfare support. Under the revised plan, the penury grant has been raised from ₹4,000 to ₹8,000 per month.
For widows of non-pensioner ex-servicemen who are above 65 years of age and have no source of income, a monthly assistance of ₹8,000 will now be provided. Additionally, the education allowance for children has been doubled — from ₹1,000 to ₹2,000 per month.
In a major relief for families, the marriage grant for daughters of ex-servicemen has been increased from ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh. The move aims to improve the quality of life for families of those who served the nation but do not receive pensions.
